Boosting Your Immune System to Fight the Coronavirus
Rest assured that if you have not been sleeping a good night’s sleep, chugging processed foods and are stressed, your immune system is compromised. There is no “superfood” in the world that will bulletproof you against seasonal sniffles, let alone the Corona Virus.
This is the time to really supercharge our bodies to deal with all eventualities, be it Corona, or any other infection.
So, what should we do to make our body’s immunity so strong that no virus can attack?
Protect yourself from Covid-19 Symptoms:
If a virus does attack, the body should be strong enough to fight it.
1. Sleep! Get your Zzzzs, PUHLEEZ
Sleep repairs the body. Without sufficient sleep, our body makes fewer cytokines, a type of protein that targets infection and inflammation, effectively creating an immune response.
2. Do not Stress
Stress causes an inflammatory response within the body that can greatly affect your fight-or-flight response by releasing too much of the stress hormone, cortisol. It also leaves us more vulnerable to infections and disease.
3. Ban sugar and refined wheat
Getting rid of sugar strengthens your immune system by removing a food source for the “bad” bacteria in your gut that can kill off your good bacteria. Refined wheat or maidah converts into sugar, pretty quick, in the body. Autoimmune problems and digestive issues are telltale signs of gut imbalance.
Pure foods like Moringa Powder, Sidr Honey, Olive Oil, Blackseed Oil, Aloe Vera Juice, Coconut Oil an all help repopulate the good bacteria in your gut. Repopulating gut bacteria will help synthesize your food to the optimum, leaving you with more energy and vitality.
Probiotics may help give your immune system a boost and inhibit the growth of harmful gut bacteria. Also, probiotics have been shown to promote the production of natural antibodies in the body. They may also boost immune cells like the IgA-producing cells, T lymphocytes and natural killer cells.
5. Vitamins and Diet
Experts say no amount of vitamin shots, juices, or infusions will prevent you from getting sick if you have a lousy diet.
Recently, so-called wellness gurus have been recommending extremely high levels of vitamin supplements, enough to potentially become a health hazard.
I suggest that you eat a healthy amount of fresh vegetables and fruits. Some lean meat, lentils and keep hydrated.
Yes, I do recommend vitamin C, for it is one of the biggest immune system boosters of all. In fact, a lack of vitamin C can even make you more prone to getting sick. Vitamin C does cell repair and DNA repair so that whatever breakage has taken place in the body, can be mended.
I also recommend vitamin D because we cover ourselves from head to toe and do not get enough sun, and our diet is pretty deficient in vitamin D.
Research has shown that the immune system needs vitamin D to fight off viruses — while it won’t protect you from getting the virus if you’re exposed, it could reduce the severity of the illness and help make recovery easier.
These are my only recommendations, apart from what the health experts say, like avoid contact, keep distance and stay hydrated.
