Description

1732 – Tea Tree Oil first came to the attention of Western Society in 1732 when Captain James Cook made his famous trip around the world. When they landed in Australia, Captain Cook brewed a spicy and refreshing tea from the leaves of the Melaleuca Alternifolia tree, thus naming it the “Tea Tree.” It was used until Penicillin was invented.

1769 – It was first called Tea Tree by the expedition of caption Cook and Banks, which identified the plant and established it’s used when moored off the Purangi River in Mercury Bay in 1769. New Zealand Coromandel Mountains Tea Tree Oil Company Limited, also in Mercury Bay, extracts the oil from naturally occurring unsprayed or cultivated plants by a natural process that does not involve crushing or heat treatment.

Tea tree oil benefits are a popular choice for treating acne because of its anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial properties. It’s thought to calm redness, swelling, and inflammation. It may even help to prevent and reduce acne scars, leaving you with smooth, clear skin.

Fight Acne and Other Skin Conditions

Due to tea tree oil for skin antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, it has the potential to work as a natural remedy for acne and other inflammatory skin conditions, including eczema and psoriasis.

For Black Heads

With its highly effective disinfecting and antibacterial properties, tea tree oil for skin not only helps treat acne but also helps to dry out blackheads. The oil penetrates deep into the skin to disinfect, dry, and unclogs pores, helping to eliminate and prevent blackheads resulting in fresh, clean-looking skin.

Glowing Skin

Cleansing moisturizer: Combine a pea-sized squeeze off an excellent non-comedogenic moisturizer with 1 drop of tea tree oil for skin. After cleansing your face and patting dry, massage this blend on your face. This will help to prevent blemishes and blackheads and hydrate the skin at the same time!

All-natural makeup remover: In a small glass jar, add 2 tbsp. of olive oil or jojoba oil (most closely resembles the skin’s natural oils). To that, add 5 drops of tea tree oil benefits and shake well. Use a clean cotton ball or swab dipped in the solution to clean makeup and rinse with warm water.

Scars

Has your acne left behind troublesome scars that never seem to go away? Store-bought scar creams can be expensive and contain harsh chemicals. Tea tree oil benefits not only help to combat acne blemishes but also helps in scar healing and lightening.

Scar healing remedy: Add 1 drop of tea tree oil benefits to 1 1/2 tsp. of raw honey. Massage over the affected areas and let sit and dry for at least 15-20 minutes. Rinse gently with cool water. Do this daily, and over time and you’ll see the scars start to lighten.

Soothe Skin Irritations

Tea tree oil’s antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties may make it a useful tool for soothing skin irritations and wounds. Tea tree oil may be effective in reducing inflammation, fighting skin or wound infections, and reducing wound size. It can be used to soothe sunburns, sores and insect bites, but only when it has been tested on a small patch of skin first to rule out a sensitivity to topical application.

Fight Bacterial, Fungal and Viral Infections

Tea tree oil can be used to fight several infections. Tea tree oil benefits can inhibit the growth of bacteria like Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli, Haemophilus influenza, Streptococcus pyogenes, and Streptococcus pneumonia. These bacteria cause serious infections, including pneumonia, urinary tract infections, respiratory illness, bloodstream infections, strep throat, sinus infections, and impetigo. Because tea tree oil benefits antifungal properties, it may have the ability to fight or prevent fungal infections.

There are two benefits of tea tree oil about the skin and hair.

Tea Tree Oil Benefits for Skin

1. Natural Deodorant

Tea tree oil benefits antibacterial effects that may help control underarm odour related to perspiration. Sweat itself does not smell. However, when secretions from your sweat glands combine with bacteria on your skin, a moderate to strong odour is produced. Your underarm area contains a large concentration of these glands and is mainly responsible for what is commonly referred to as “body odour.” Tea tree oil benefits bacteria-fighting properties make it an ideal natural alternative to commercial deodorants and antiperspirants.

2. Antiseptic for Minor Cuts and Scrapes

Injuries that result in broken skin make it easy for germs to enter your bloodstream, which can lead to infection.

Tea tree oil for skin can be used to treat and disinfect minor cuts and abrasions by killing S. aureus and other bacteria that can cause infection in open wounds.

To disinfect a cut or scrape, follow these steps:

  1. Clean the wound thoroughly with plain soap and water

In a small study of 10 people with wounds, adding tea tree oil for skin to conventional wound treatment led to decreased healing time in all but one participant.

4. Fight Acne

Tea tree oil for skin can be a powerful weapon against acne. Several studies have shown that it helps reduce the amount and overall severity of acne.

In one study, applying a 5% tea tree gel to acne lesions was shown to be more than three times as effective at reducing the number of injuries than a placebo. It was nearly six times as effective in reducing the severity.

In another study, tea tree oil for skin was found to be as effective against acne as benzoyl peroxide, the most common anti-acne medication.

Tea tree oil for skin-based acne gels can be purchased at natural grocery stores or from online retailers.
