Benefits of Distilled Water
Some people drink distilled water for short periods of time for detoxification. Drinking distilled water on daily basis is not recommended by most health practitioners because distilled water lacks minerals and ions, both the bad ones and the good ones. However, distilled water is capable of removing harmful toxins from your body. But before you start drinking distilled water, you should consult your nutritionist about your detoxification plan. (Our distilled water is not recommended for drinking)
In making cosmetic products, distilled water is used as solvent. When you make your own beauty products, make sure to use purified water. Using normal tap water will decrease the quality and lifespan of your products because the water may contain substances or bacteria. This sometimes become the culprit of skin irritation or other skin problems.
Distilled water also used for cleaning purposes due to its ability to bind dirt and impurities that comes in contact. Washing your face with distilled water will improve penetration of products that you use after washing your face. This water is also good to use for cleaning build-ups on your hair.
Washing Face with Distilled Water
Washing your face using distilled water can improve your skin condition. The chlorine in tap water can strip moisture out of your skin, making your skin loose its elasticity. This is what we usually refer to as ‘tight feeling’ after washing our face.
The distilled water is better than normal tap water at dissolving impurities on our skin, even soap residue from facial cleanser. Once you have clean and unclogged pores, your skin is more than ready to receive the benefits of facial products that you applied after washing your face. Products will be absorbed better and your skin will feel the difference.
If you are spoiled by the convenience that tap water has always offered, washing your face using bottled distilled water can be such a hassle. However, a clean spray bottle can make your life easier. Pour the distilled water into a spray bottle and put it in the shower where it is easy for you to grab when you wash your face.
When washing your face using distilled water, spray the water on your face before applying facial cleanser. After that, rub the facial cleanser on your palm until it foams, then rub gently on your face in a circular motion. Rinse your face by spraying the water generously on your face until the entire soap residue is completely gone. Dab your face with a clean towel to dry.
Washing Hair with Distilled Water
It goes the same with your hair. Hard water contains lots of minerals which then reacted to the shampoo you use. This may lead to build ups that stay on your hair. Hard water also tends to cause the scales on your hair shaft to stand up, which makes hair feel rough and frizzy.
You don’t have to wash your hair with distilled water from start to end. You can use distilled water as the final rinse after shampooing and conditioning. This will make a huge difference to your hair.
You can make vinegar and distilled water mix for your final rinse. Mild acidic products will harden the outer layer of your hair shaft and flatten the scales, helping to make your hair look shiny and smooth. Use apple cider vinegar for this recipe.
Vinegar Mix Recipe: Mix 2 tablespoons of apple cider vinegar with 1 cup of distilled water in a spray bottle. After shampooing and conditioning, rinse with normal tap water, then spray vinegar mix generously on your hair and give a gentle massage. Pay attention to the hair ends. Leave it for a couple of minutes, and then rinse with clean distilled water. Use this rinse once a week or twice a week depends on your hair condition.
