Why Steam Rice?

Anyone who does not own a rice cooker, whether you don’t make rice often enough to justify the purchase, or you simply don’t want another countertop appliance!
If you do happen to have a rice cooker, but the power goes out and you need a method of cooking rice on a gas stove.
If you’re cooking while on the road, camping, or otherwise traveling. (Though I do know some Chinese folks who travel with a rice cooker!)
Cooking rice in small batches if you’d like to cook 1-2 servings and don’t like to deal with leftovers.
If you’d like to reduce the number of dishes you have to wash! You can steam individual bowls of rice, like I did with the serving below

Appearance

Uncooked: Semi-translucent grains with a distinctive golden amber hue.

Cooked: Transforms to a bright white color while retaining a firm, plump appearance.

Texture (Uncooked)

Hard and glassy with a slightly rougher texture than regular white rice.

Texture (Cooked)

Firm, distinct, and perfectly non-sticky. The grains remain wonderfully separate and have a fluffy yet substantial chew, holding their shape excellently.

Flavor

A mild, neutral flavor with a slightly nuttier and more robust taste compared to regular white rice, making it a more flavorful base for dishes.

Aroma

A subtle, warm, and grain-like aroma that is less floral than basmati but more pronounced than regular white rice.

Versatility

An excellent all-rounder. Perfect for daily meals with curries and dals, biryanis, pilafs, salads, and casseroles. Its non-sticky nature makes it ideal for packed lunches and rice salads.

Storage Instructions

Store in an airtight container in a cool, dry place. Its parboiled nature gives it a longer shelf life and resistance to insects.

FAQs

What is the difference between steamed rice and regular white rice?

Steamed rice (parboiled) is processed with steam and pressure before milling, which locks in nutrients and gives it a firmer, non-sticky texture. Regular white rice is milled without this process.

Why does it take longer to cook?

The parboiling process makes the grain harder and denser, requiring more time and water to soften and cook through completely compared to regular white rice.

Is it pre-cooked?

No, it is not pre-cooked. "Steamed" or "parboiled" refers to the treatment it undergoes before the husk is removed. It still requires full cooking before consumption.

Is it as healthy as brown rice?

It is more nutritious than regular white rice and a good middle-ground option. It retains many of the vitamins and minerals of brown rice but has a lighter texture and shorter cooking time.

Can I use it to make fried rice?

Yes. Its firm texture and low stickiness make it one of the best choices for fried rice, as the grains stay separate and absorb flavors well without becoming mushy.

Easy to Digest

ChiltanPure Steamed Rice is pre-steamed and naturally light, thus it is easy on the stomach and can be used by all age groups, such as children and older adults. It aids in healthy digestion and helps avoid bloating.

Retains Natural Nutrients

Its low level of steaming can retain many important nutrients such as B vitamins, iron, and fiber that are not maintained in highly polished rice, which is beneficial to the general well-being.

Supports Heart Health

This rice is low in fat content, free of cholesterol, and natural, which ensures you are not vulnerable to contravene cholesterol levels and to keep your heart functioning better.

Time-Saving & Easy to Cook

It cooks quicker and more evenly since it is already steamed, and it helps save time without leaving soft, non-sticky grains that would be added to daily meals.

Versatile & Delicious

Chiltanpure steamed rice prepared many types of tasty rice dishes using: pulao, biriyani, jeera rice, carrot rice, lemon rice, palak rice, ghee rice, paneer pulao, etc. It can also be prepared to make sushi, which is a Japanese delicate dish, or even popular Italian risotto, Mexican rice, and numerous other delicious recipes.

ChiltanPure Steamed Rice rinse lightly 1-2 times in cold water before cooking.
Add 1 cup of rice and 2 cups of water, bring to a boil, then cook on low heat until tender and fluffy.
